Coach Educator  ·  Founder & Developer of Multi Skills  ·  CEO, NIKA Sport & Community

An Israeli coach educator working at the intersection of sports pedagogy, motor learning, skill acquisition and cognitive development, with a focus on children, youth and young athletes.

Hai Sinay

The emphasis

Not only what the athlete needs to learn — how the coach designs the learning

Most coach development stops at content: the drill, the skill, the session plan. My work starts one step earlier, with the person delivering it — how a coach designs, presents and adapts a learning experience through task design, communication, attention, challenge and variability.

That shift is what makes a session transfer. A child who repeats a movement in a fixed setting can perform it in that setting. A child who meets the same problem under changing constraints learns to read a situation and solve it — which is what the game, the playground and the classroom actually ask for.

Coach education

Workshops, courses and mentoring for coaches, PE teachers and clubs — built around practice design rather than content delivery.

The Multi Skills methodology

An evidence-informed methodology for coaching children and young athletes, developed and taught since 2015.

NIKA Sport & Community

A non-profit I lead as CEO, running sport and movement programmes for children across Israel, including areas with little access to either.

The method

Multi Skills — Wise Sports Training Method

An evidence-informed methodology for coaching children and young athletes: building broad movement, cognitive and adaptive capabilities that can progressively support sport-specific development. Multi Skills connects what athletes need to develop with how practice is designed and delivered.

The axis runs from general to progressively sport-specific, across movement, cognition, decision-making, adaptability and creativity. It is deliberately not a curriculum of drills — the same principles are applied differently in a first-grade PE lesson, a football academy and an elite youth squad, because the constraints differ.

The coach is a designer of learning environments.

The single idea the whole method rests on
  • Constraints-led approach
  • Task, individual & environmental constraints
  • Affordances
  • Representative practice
  • Repetition without repetition
  • Differential learning
  • Movement variability & transfer
  • Perception–decision–action
  • Scanning & anticipation
  • Attention & information

How the work moves

From knowledge to practice

Each stage exists because the one before it is not enough on its own. Research that never reaches task design stays on a slide; task design that never reaches a real programme stays in a workshop.

01

Research-informed principles

Motor learning, skill acquisition and cognitive development — read critically, not quoted.

02

Task design & sports pedagogy

Turning a principle into a task a coach can actually run on a Tuesday afternoon.

03

Programmes, coaches & systems

Curricula, coach development tracks and the structures that keep them alive.

04

Real-world implementation

In clubs, schools and community programmes — then reviewed against what happened.

How a workshop is framed

Every theme starts from a question, not a topic

A topic invites a lecture. A question invites coaches to look at their own session and find that the answer is not obvious. These two run through most of the work:

?

What information does the player need to perceive in order to make a better decision?

Leads into scanning, attention, and the difference between telling a player what to do and letting them see it.
?

What is the expected learning outcome, and what environment is most likely to invite it?

Leads into constraints: what to change in the space, the rules or the task so the behaviour appears on its own.

Working together

Three formats, one body of work

Coach development workshops

Hands-on sessions for coaching staff — on the pitch or in the hall, with the coaches doing the designing, not watching slides.

Half-day to multi-session tracks

Keynotes & conference sessions

For federations, academic programmes and conferences — the pedagogy argument, with live movement experiments the room takes part in.

60–90 minutes

Consulting for organisations

Building or reviewing a youth development framework, a coach education track, or a movement curriculum for a school network.

Ongoing engagements

The levers a coach actually has

  • Space
  • Numbers
  • Rules
  • Direction
  • Pressure
  • Task goals

Get in touch

Workshops, keynotes and collaborations

Working in English with clubs, federations, schools and academic programmes outside Israel — remotely or on site. Tell me who the coaches are and what you want them to be able to do differently, and I will tell you whether I am the right person for it.
